Success Story:
Daisy Vásquez
San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Daisy Vásquez has been receiving microloans since 1992 from ODEF, a Global Partnerships microfinance partner in Honduras. With the help of these loans, she has created a successful shoe-making business with her husband and her mother. Running the business out of their home, she supports the three generations living there and provides a job to an employee from the neighborhood. Daisy travels to local markets every day, where she sells two to three dozen pairs of shoes daily to individual vendors.

Daisy’s next step is to open her own store so that her family can move from being wholesalers to retailers. Daisy spoke passionately about her determination to see her three small children graduate from high school, and it is this resolve that drives her to continue growing her business.

"My life has changed a lot since I started participating in ODEF’s programs. I can’t imagine life without them. Because of ODEF our family has been able to stay together and we have a lot of opportunities that we wouldn’t otherwise have."
