CEPRODEL
Founded in Nicaragua in 1989, CEPRODEL is a nonprofit organization that got its start developing social projects through community organizations. Recognizing the need for more financing to support community initiatives, CEPRODEL began its microfinance program in 1991. More than half of the organization's branches and agencies are located in very small towns in rural areas. CEPRODEL offers products for both urban and rural clients, including consumer, housing and home improvement loans; and agriculture and cattle-raising loan products.
With strong social and financial programs, CEPRODEL has expanded its operations throughout the northwestern area of Nicaragua. Eighteen more offices are projected to be opened over the next five years in places where there are few microfinance institutions. Nearly 60% of the institution’s portfolio is with women borrowers.
