CRECER
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: CRECER was founded in 1985 by Freedom from Hunger, a California-based nonprofit organization, as a project of their Credit with Education Program. The program’s goal was to help women break the cycle of poverty through economic and social empowerment. In 1999 CRECER became an independent Bolivian nonprofit organization. It works mainly through communal banks of 12 to 20 women and combines this with education in health, civil rights, empowerment and business development. CRECER has offices throughout Bolivia, with an extensive network of branches.
