Dear Friends of Global Partnerships, The COVID-19 pandemic has been evolving rapidly, on a global basis. Many are feeling anxious about their own health, the wellbeing of family and friends, and our collective ability to effectively cope with this public health emergency and related economic impact. At Global Partnerships we are deeply concerned about what this pandemic means for poor and marginalized communities. During our more than 25 years of work expanding opportunity for people living in poverty, we have witnessed how the burden of crisis falls most heavily on those with the fewest resources available to weather the storm. While this emergency makes our work more challenging, it is more important than ever for us to be resilient and carry on. To protect the health and safety of our staff, while doing our part to “flatten the curve”, Global Partnerships has closed its physical offices and all staff are working remotely. We have suspended work-related travel and have made technology investments to allow our team to be in close communication with each other and with our partners. We will keep these measures in place until further notice, at least until mid-April and likely much longer. The pandemic is at a relatively early stage in Africa and Latin America, but it has started to spread. The GP team is hard at work understanding the challenges faced by partners across 25 countries and discerning how we can most effectively support them moving forward. Thank you for your ongoing partnership. We will keep you informed as this pandemic unfolds and as our work evolves to respond to the needs of people living in poverty. Be Well, |
